In Herzog’s films, magic tricks turn into wondrous human manias — and thereby the magic retains its real nature. In other words: characters in his films are infected with dreams as if by a virus, which strikes the organism unpredictably and creates fatal tricks of fate. “Werner Herzog is cult!» is written in the catalogue of the exhibition – and they are more, than right concerning that.
Herzog’s characters are romantic eccentrics. He knows how to transform the penguin into a Chekhov personage.
Herzog recasts ideology and psychology into physiological actions. This is basically the mechanism of circus magic tricks — prestidigitation. This is the wonder of Herzog’s greatness.

The words from the exhibition catalogue: “…In around 70 feature films and documentaries to date, Herzog has created an extraordinary visual canon, far surpassing what audiences are accustomed to seeing at the cinema…».
