In the middle of summer European documentary fans and professionals move to FIDMarseille – Marseille International Film Festival, the most influenced documentary cinema event in France. 130 films in different competitions, more than 23 000 spectators in cinemas, theatres, libraries, art galleries and in open-air amphitheatres throughout the city. World premiers and first films.

What distinguishes the Festival? The plurality of forms, formats, approaches, visions. Unreal reality. Between fiction and documentary. Unexpected, rebellious, surprising, methaphorical, enigmatic films. The head of International Jury – Mati Diop, French-Senegalese filmmaker (her Atlantis won the Grand Pris at Cannes International Film Festival in 2019).

To add to competitions there are such events as Special program, invented by Mathie Amalric. And the retrospective of Albert Serra.

To be continued on FIDMarseille.
